I wonder what happened to Mac & Alina's biological parents. They were 2 years a part so it wasn't that it was an unplanned pregnancy & adoption was the course of action they took. Did they die fighting the Unseelie or thought it was too dangerous to have their daughters with them so they put them in a town the fae would never go to?

Ah, Christina. You were up in the wee hours of the morning thinking about Darkfever and I was dealing with a cranky child who WOULD NOT GO BACK TO SLEEP! Perhaps I should have logged on too - would have put me in a better mood to have had company :03:
I wonder about Alina and Mac's parents too, especially her mom. I think mom was in danger b/c she was a Null and shipped her daughters off to keep them safe before anyone could find out about them. However, I am pretty sure that she is dead - we don't have any evidence either way but it's just a gut feeling.
I do think, however that there are other O'Connors and that she will meet them in upcoming books.
Did I read in one of the teasers something that made me think that Alina and Mac were actually twins? Maybe I dreamt it? It would explain why they were so incredibly close. Anyway, I was wondering if maybe the mother they grew up with IS their biological mother and that she left/escaped Ireland to protect them. Perhaps the "sight" skipped her the way it did Gabby's mother and she couldn't teach them and protect them, so she got them out of there.

If I remember correctly, Alina was 2 years older than Mac, she was 24 and Mac 22, so they wouldn't be twins.
Yeah, I know that's what it says in Darkfever, and that's what Mac thinks, but I thought there was something somewhere in one of the Bloodfever teasers that called them twins. I'll have to go back and check. I don't have the booklet, just the website and the newsletters, so it would have to be in one of those. What do you think about their mother? Her reaction to Mac being gone (you know, not getting out of bed, etc.) made me think that she knew what her daughters were and that she felt she had failed to keep them safe.

I think that Mac and Alina's bio mom is dead. I think that she may have been killed by whatever is stalking Mac in the booklet (on the back it says that something dark is out to get Mac to finally be rid of the O'Connor nulls, or something similar). I think the remaining O'Connors went deep undercover, and sent the girls away... maybe Jack and Rainey Lane were on a trip to Ireland, adopted the girls there, and were warned to never let them return (ties into Jack telling Mac during the "adoption" convo that they were warned to not let Alina go to Dublin). Or maybe Jack and Rainey Lane knew their bio mom, knew what she was, promised to protect the girls and never let them return to Ireland. Or maybe they adopted them through an agency through blind luck? Thoughts?

I had that feeling too - their adoptive parents knew they weren't supposed to go to Ireland but so many years after the adoption (and warning) they got lax and dismissed the warning.
That would make sense especially if they (adoptive parents) are "normal" and didn't really "get" the danger the girls were in.
Hi there,
Their bio mom being dead is certainly a good theory, too, since presumably the mom that raised them didn't have an accent. Although, it is possible to get rid of an accent. I had missed the part about a warning. I'm currently working my way from Kiss to Darkfever, rereading everything for the release of Blodfever, in case I pick up something I missed the first couple of times through (yes, I'm thoroughly hooked on these books!) And, yes, after 20 years the parents could have gotten lax about something they didn't fully understand.
