I am going through a little bit of a rough time here:52:.......I think you girls remember a little bit of what I am talking about if you read my post before I left for Texas......but I was wondering WHAT do you girls do when you are stressed, I myself find myself chain smoking, which is a terrible addiction, but right now I am hooked on Dove dark chocolate, I keep buying bag fulls of the little bite-sized ones, and I paint my nails black when I am in a mood, somehow it helps, don't ask......:15x-vi: and I drink lots of wine, and I mean lots of wine. So, tell me what your stress fix is.........

Geez, honey, slow down! Don't forget, your other fix is coming here and venting. Do it more often and maybe you can cut down on the smoking and drinking. We're here for ya. ...There's nothing wrong with you chocolate addiction though! :) Me, well, I come onto this board and connect with women I greatly enjoy and that helps.

relief for me is pulling apart a room then repainting it. Grab my two shoeboxes full of acrylic paints and homemade stencils and create a scene that is tranquil. Then, smoke and drink. Make a great dinner even if I say so myself. Then attack my husband...Poor b*stard !:55:

I eat - brownies, cookies, chocolate and drink waaaay too much Dr. Pepper. And since I am allergic to wheat and not supposed to have much sugar or caffine it just makes it that much worse!

Hope things start looking up for you soon - and come chat instead of smoking or drinking, it might help.

I'm like Melissa, I eat too. Mostly chocolate chip cookies. Or anything else sweet. But ultimately, the only thing that helps if facing the problem. Life is too short to be stressed, but sh** happens, and we have to deal with it. And Gina's right, come here & unload. We're here for ya!!

Stress fix? Well mine is easy. SEX! And lots of it. If I can not have that I read or come on the board to play. But mostly I make my DH glad I he is a man. I swear sometimes he stresses me out on purpose. LOL
I highly recommend going to an adult store and picking up a few toys that is always a way to get a few laughs. The stuff in those shops is just so funny.

OMG sweetie! http://beaty625.com/rblicons/soothe.gif Vent here all you want, but please don't harm yourself like that with food/smoking/drinking... More evil doesn't cure evil, it just creates more problems for the future.

Do you have any healthy hobbies that don't require much concentration/mental stamina to turn to to disassociate yourself temporarily at times of emotional overload? I mean stuff like knitting, painting, gardening, walking, etc...

As for your other question, my personal stress management tools are running and reorganizing/cleaning (closets, bookshelves, storage, file cabinets, etc...).

I do have my horses, I spent the night at the barn last night giving my horses baths and conditioning their hair, braiding Tesla's mane, just chilling, but everytime I walk back in the house, reality just smacks me in the face.........this to shall pass....hopefully:th_rain:, thanks though, I guess I hadn't really thought about that as therapy, hmmmm....I like to garden too, sometimes I just walk through my lavender and smell it.......soothing...

More than a few Jennifer...all I can say is "Go with a smile !" said the Joker as he tumbled to his death...On second thought, THAT is kind of scarey ! YIKES...We must have been twins that were adopted after birth. Your parents brought you to Ohio, my adoptive brought me to Massachusetts. We like the same things, eat food, indulge, ride with nekkid highlanders on horses, and drink William Lawson's Scotch Whiskey and do the sword dance on Stonehenge....Was THAT good or what ?!!

OKAY now, this gets even scarier...I grow English Lavender, English version smells better than Spanish...Have oodles all against my fence. When I am REALLY stressed, I go outside and sit on the stone retaining wall and just about lie in the stuff...Could lay there all day. Looking up at the sky. AFTER I had totally changed the entire look of the room by painting everything in site. I THINK we are twins !

Jennifer, I eat several (three small squares) of extra dark chocolate very slowly or find stairs and each stair has a name and a face on it! Or cry.

Everyone is right, come here to vent and if you feel better about it, private message with someone, OK?

Hi Jennifer,

Hey girl, I just have to say watch all that junk that you use to deal with stress (sugar, in candy form or alcohol form & smoking). I can report, after dealing with the health issues that come with the intake of bad stuff in response to stress, that there are better ways! Ways that help you live longer.

Personally, I think JoJo has the right answer! Go to the 'store' and get some toys, and then work the stress with your significant other. :65:

I spent 4 years riding cross country in the Battle Creek Hunt (we never once caught a fox - that wasn't the point!) while I lived in Michigan. I own two saddles (currently collecting dust in my garage). Now that I've moved to California, that part of my life is on hold (as are other parts of my life, but no need to discuss that here!) I really like English riding, and Hunt Seat Equitation. But I'd do Western riding if I could find a good situation here in LA. (Boarding a horse in LA is more expensive than renting an apartment!)

If I can dig up my old riding pictures, I'll post them.

Jennifer ((((HUGS)))) I know it is rough. I like to eat chocolate myself, I know you are still recovering from your riding accident but when you feel better try some sort of exercise, maybe like Yoga. It is a great stress releiver, plus it will allow you to eat all that chocolate LOL!

Remember we are here for you vent all you want that is what a family is for and that is what we are here, a family.

YUP ! YOU can ride WITHOUT JENNIFER for a long while...We'll watch and she can take pictures because I am technologically challenged too but, I'll be able to tell you the name of every weed my butt sits on...Used to go to polo matches in Newport...sat on a blanket and drank a couple of glasses of wine and ate Biscotti's all afternoon.

Please feel free to vent, cry, laugh, scream, or get bloody MAD, but keeping it all inside is the worst thing you can do! We're here for you!:thewave::57:

I'm so sorry you are going through a tough time! Big hugs for ya!:th_hug-vi: I relieve stress by reading, listening to music, talking to friends, and coming here! You can talk to us anytime! I cannot tell a lie...I drink and eat LOTS of chocolate! I don't smoke anymore...but have friends who do. I am trying to get an excercise routine down now that I'm moved and that relieves stress too. I would ride horses if I had them....my family raises them. I miss having them. Nowhere to keep them here.

Jennifer when I'm stressed out and can't deal w/ it anymore there are several things I do... Taking a nice hike by myself w/ just my ipod and water bottle, or go shopping for make-up or clothes, spending lots of money on myself is always relaxing, hahaha, and/ or taking a nice long bath w/ my favourite scents.

I'm sure Gina has a large selection of highlander men to tempt you.

Jennifer, I hope things get better for you lots of HUGS!

Jennifer , I hope you are feeling less stress after coming on Board & talking... I am sending lots of {{{{Hugs & ++++ Thoughts}}}} you're way ! Life in general can be very tough & testing at times . It will sometimes push us to a limit where we must dig really deep to pull oursellves back to our comfort zone & stay happy and at peace with what life has dealt each of us.
You are a very strong person & you will get passed whatever you are going through that brings you down.. I promise ... if you look for the Sunshine everyday , you will find it.

pss... Remember ! Sunshine / chocolate & William Lawson ...it can't get any better than that ... :anim_naughty-vi:

The advice is always a plus....makes me a little more positive.....as I said before this too shall pass, and now I have many new stress relievers to try out! And I am ordering some stuff from Gina that should help too! Plus, I should be starting school up again in the fall, that should keep me preoccupied, but I HAVE to make time to read my romance, that's the true spice in my life! Right now I am looking into buying an old farm house, even further away from civilization than I am now, start an even bigger lavender garden, and wild flowers everywhere, I think that would really make me happy, to be able to have a place that is totally my own, to just go in and rip out, and make it my own, I have always wanted a "real" library and I think this will be my chance....keep your fingers crossed, I want this so bad!!!:th_manydancingbanan

I'm sorry to hear you so stressed. I hope that chatting on the board is helping a wee bit :6:

Personally, I also do the smoking/drinking/candy thing and when I'm good and sorry for myself I pop in a Friends season at random and lmao. Then I make plans with friends to hang out (even if I don't feel like it) or I go to the beach and sit there for hours. Probably not much help but lay on the rant, it cleanses the soul :03:

I'm not stressed but I'm PMS'ing like a MoFo! Last night about 6:45 I had to go to the gym before someone got hurt. I walked for 30 minutes (4.5 mph) and did the eliptical for 15. By the time I was done I had worked the fight out of me and I felt fine. Now if you saw me, you wouldn't believe that I work out. Getting into shape is my goal for the next 6 months. I have not lost the 40# I put on with Sam. (He's 15 months old). I just haven't been motivated. I am now though! It felt SO good to work out hard. I felt like Rhage or Z just pounding on that treadmill.
Agressive music helps me too. SlipKnot, Black Label Society, Misfits etc.. I can't stand music like that unless I'm working out. Odd.

Michelle, saw a video interview with JR Ward and she said she runs & works out - to rap music, which is why she incorporated it into the BDB books (that and the fact that the brothers just wouldn't work out to something tame!!).
Exercise is always a great stress-buster. Glad to know you de-stressed, and all family members are still alive & kicking!!

You know, you can call me too, & vent - I'll always listen. :6:

Reminds me of the movie THE TWINS, Danny Divitto & Arnold Swartzeneigger ? (just give me a break for goodness sake. It's a damn long name & a mouthful)...I just don't know...:33:
Re-reading this there's someone missing...there was just one more....It was the lavender ?!! There were few more that grew the stuff too.
But I think that we should adopt tcdarcy7...we can be the three bad triplets of the group. :anim_naughty-vi:

I agree Jennifer.
My favorite seasons are spring & summer.
I start to get affected when the leaves die & crumble to the ground in fall up here. I don't think the foliage is all THAT beautiful when everything sleeps in a blanket of snow that quickly changes to snog & dirt covered piles of ice...
One day, I have a dream that when the kids finish college & we are done helping them pay for their loans, our dream is to sell our house & move someplace warm half way in between each child. ONCE in my life I'd like to put white Christmas lights on a Palm tree that grows in our yard...
Now, THAT would be heaven...:65:

Jennifer I have enjoyed the threads you brought back! Sorry I haven't responded before now, I've had the 10 1/2 mo old grandgirl and she is very mobile now. No sitting still for her! She is a very fast crawler and walks around everything, not to mention she has cut 4 teeth in the front in the last 2 wks! When she decides to do something, it all happens at once!
