When Amazon's Kindle (K1) released, I talked it up so much my parents each bought one. They'd never heard of eBooks or eReaders, but fell madly in love with their devices. I loved the technology, but couldn't justify paying the price.
When the K3 was announced with a $139 pricetag, I thought I would finally be able to afford one. Then DH lost his job, and yeah, it dropped completely off my priority list
So Friday, I went to my parent's house (Yes, I'm still tiling their fireplace) and I saw a K3 fresh out of the box. Mom said it was her new toy, so I didn't bat an eye. I played with it a little, took some comparison pictures, then went home.
When I went back to do more work Saturday, Mom and Dad met me at the door with the Amazon box in hand. They said they were disappointed in me for not whining or begging or anything, and said they thought I wanted a Kindle more than that. LOL
To make a long story short, they bought the K3 for me as a birthday present. This model wasn't released until the 27th, so it was late to the party. (Not that I minded at all.)
I'm thrilled. I've already moved gobs of books onto it, and I can't wait to get reading. :60:
This is one of those comparison shots I took. Dad's (well used) K1 is on the left. My K3 is on the right.
And yes, that's Mom's ironing board. While we're remodeling their living room, space is at a premium. LOL
