I did my first re-read of Darkfever about a month ago--after having just doing my 189473519345 re-read about Adam. Anyway, it just occurred to me (I know, I know; I'm moron for having only put it together now after an entire year since DF's release) but that pretty man was DARROC, was it not?

I wanted to see what theories were being slung around but happened across this newly formed board soo...would like to here what everyone's thinking.

I so agree with you that the pretty boy (Lord Master) is Darroc. I don't think he killed Alina, I think JB is most likely cursed. I am on the fence about V'Lane I am not sure wether or not he is Seelie or Unseelie.

I can so not wait for October 16.

I, personally, <3 JB--Yummy. He just sounds so...well, YUMMY. And cursed, you say? I never thought of that. I just figured something sidhe-seer-like, kinda like Gabrielle, but different. I dunno. Maybe not even human altogether. At first I thought, maybe he's some kind of guardian, and that's why he wants the OOPS so much...I dunno. Just kinda want him to save me.

And I'm with you on V'lane. Don't like 'im, don't dislike him, either. I really don't know what the deciding factor would be to sway me either way at this point.

I'm rootin' for Mac, though, and I do believe Darroc killed Alina, or some how purposefully got her killed. She was a threat, you know? I mean, sure he was human but that doesn't mean he wasn't/isn't still also hateful, right?

Gah, but I can't wait.

I just finished re-reading it as well, and that is exactly what I thought about the Lord Master. I didn't really catch it the first time - I was too busy just trying to read it to see what the book was about. This time, I actually paid attention. But yeah, I think that would be a perfect explanation! Can't wait to read the next one!!

Yeah, it was about a week after I finished the book the first time that it clicked. I just suddenly gasped, then ran and got the book and reread certain parts. And sure enough, it's almost certain that the Lord Master is none other than Darroc.

I'm wondering though, do the unseelie he's releasing and ordering around know he's a human now? Would they be so willing to obey if they knew a mere mortal was the one giving the orders?

I'll be back many-a-time to reread this forum, so please tell me your theories. I love to gossip about books.

See I got to read the booklet which is the first 3 chapters of Bloodfever and that is where I came up with the theory that he is cursed.

!!! Lucky you, Cheryle got to read the booklet...I, of course, didn't. Cursed, eh?

Wonder what happened to 'im. JB does seem to be the cursed type, hence the mysteriousness.

I would <3 to see any of the Keltars again, and can't wait to see how Mac's gonna turn out.

Kathryn, now you've got me wondering what in the world the Unseelie are doing obeying Darroc. I mean, didn't Aoibheal say that once she turns a faery to a human, it cannot be undone? That mean he's not human anymore?

But there's nothing that says it can't be undone with a spell from the Sinsar Dubh.......

Well, Aoibheal said that, but then at the end of Spell of the Highlander, she says that, "Though the loss of Adam black to his mortal mate grieved her, and she'd considered undoing that as well . . . ." which makes me think she could undo it if she wanted to. But then could she make him back human again? I mean at the end of Immortal Highlander he even had a "glow" indicating he had a soul!
(And, I'm secretly hoping Darroc will end up redeeming himself somehow, but maybe he won't.)

Yeah - he's definitely Darroc. Which makes me wonder if we're going to be seeing Adam again in this series. I know he's "just" human now but he was the Queen's favorite - smart and loyal, - he's got to know LOTS about the whole Seelie/Unseelie world, it's politics, etc and who else would you want by your side if you were Aiobheal. Even it's just as an advisor or something...

Besides, his wife is a Sidhe-seer and as, Mac says at the end of Darkfever, they are going to need A LOT of them for the upcoming battle(s)...

So True Danielle, I hope we see Adam he has made an appearance in a lot of books, it might just not be the same without him LOL.

I would love to see Adam again but I don't think that will happen. If you remember at the end of Immortal not only was it five years into the future with them having two kids and one in the oven, Gabby had not seen any fae since Adam was made human. They had wondered if the Queen had somehow stripped her of that. Even though their daughter could obviously see them since she talked to the Queen and found out her "daddy was all golden and glowy".
I think if they were going to play a part in this new series Karen would have left us with a hint of something to come like in Spell.

As to the Darroc thing and the Queen not being able to undo making him human.... that maybe the case but who is to say that the Dark King could not undo it???:33:

I hadn't noticed that "Immortal" ended five years in the future but that would fit too! At the end of "Spell" the Queen is observing Cian, Dageus and Drustan from five and a HALF years into the human world's future - a mere six months after the end of "Immortal"...

Perhaps the reason why Gabby hadn't seen any Fae is that Aiobheal banned the Light Fae from bothering them - which is what Adam suspected in the beginning of "Immortal".

After all, if the Fae had been able to strip sidhe-seers of their gifts, wouldn't they have been doing that all along instead of either killing (initially) or (later) kidnapping and imprisoning them in Morar? That was the first thing I thought when I read that Adam and Gabby suspected that their powers were gone. Besides, if Gabby could no longer see Aiobheal, why would the Queen bother to visit when she (Gabby) wasn't around? Why not hang around anytime she wanted?

I think the fact that Gabby's daughter is a sidhe-seer is going to be significant...Why would Aiobheal reveal herself to the child otherwise....?

So many juicy possibilities to ponder! And I thought that waiting for the Harry Potter books was torture!

I so agree with you on this point Danielle. If the fae could strip a seerer's powers then we would have no seerer's IMO! Good call.
