My Dad loves to read LOTR and SciFi stuff. So, I was telling him that there's an author who writes about the Tuatha De Danaan. I told him I looked them up and it was said the JR Tolkein's Elves were based on this mythical race. I explain the similarities and now he wants to read the books. I said "Dad there are some racy things in the books. They started as romance novels." He said, "so what I like romance." I think I'll let him read Darkfever first if he really wants to. I just don't want to see his face when V'lane interacts with Mac and the pearls. (One of my favorite scenes in the book!) What do you guys think?

LMAO! My dad won't even WATCH a steamy scene on the tv if I am in the room with him he turns it or fast forwards it. I am like, Dad, I am 23! He sees me as 6 still, I believe. *sigh*
It is cool that your dad wants to read it, and he can't say you didn't warn him :03:

I''m not sure I would start him out with DF, though. Since it is really dark. I would start him out with one or more of the HIghlander books that feature the Tuatha De. Like BTHM - the one with Hawk. It has the queen, Finbearra (however its spelled), and Adam. It has lore about the Tua De. Then follow it up with DF. 'Course LOTR is really dark too. So maybe it will work.
BTW - (different subject) has your dad seen any of the new BAttlestar Galactica? Nothing to do with the Tuatha De, but a really good sci-fi series nonetheless. I dunno why I thought of that. Maybe just a long day ...

That's awesome. My father never reads anything.
(Somehow I don't think reading the forecast on The Weather Channel counts :a20: . CNN headlines either).

I'm not sure if he watched Battlestar Galactica, he used a while ago. He works for NASA so he's not home very often anymore. He does like to read. He always has, he even choked up when we watched "Sense and Sensibilty". I'm not sure if he read the book though. I told him we can watch "Pride and Prejudice" together. I love that movie. ( the one with Keira Knightly)
I'm sorry Celestial Girl. I meant to put your post in quotes.

I think Darkfever is great for men and women. Karen receives emails from men who have read and loved the Fever books. I would have him read the Fever books first and once he's hooked he'll have no problems reading the "romance" books, LOL.

Where does he work - Huntsville?? (You live in MIssouri, and it seems a little far). What does he do? Maybe I know him (ha ha).
You know, one of the best Sense and Sensibility experiences is the audiobook - but it has to be with the right reader. I have a particular reader in mind, but I don't remember her name. So I'll have to post it later. She's funny, and she renders the story really well - with it's tragedy and comedy.

You don't know what he might learn!!! We older folks are just older, not dead. The woman in his life might benefit from his reading the books and learning from the keltars!!! :65:
If he doesn't like the book he can always close it and put it down. I'm 58 and still like the sci fi and of course KMM's books.
That's awesome!:) My dad loves to read too but his close vision is not good anymore so I always give him books on CD for him to listen to... and he loved Darkfever... I still have to lend him my Bloodfever!

I showed him Karen's books and Sherrilyn Kenyons'. I think he bought a dark hunter book. The last time he saw me he just raised an eyebrow :a20: and left it at that! :65: :65:

Oh Oh...that can't be a good sign! I would die if my dad tried to read any KMM books. He probably wouldn't be able to look at me for weeks if he knew the content in some of these books (need I mention certain scenes with pearls) I wouldn't even be comfortable sharing the books with my mum...

I dont think my dad would ever read any of these. He said he started to read a book like 20yrs ago & still hasn't finished it. lol
My mom, on the other hand, is the one who got me into reading the KMM, Sherrilyn Kenyon, & Laurall K. Hamilton books. It's really hard for me to look at my mom the same sometimes after knowing what she's been reading all these years. I understand now why she'd tune us out sometimes though-must have been a steamy scene. (I do this too. Gotta get through the whole scene before you can put it down) lol When we talk about what's going on in one of the books my dad just looks at us funny & shakes his head. It's like my mom & I are talking in secret code or something to him. :wlaugh:

I have been trying to get my best friend to read them she doesn't want to read because it means less time with her boyfriend. :sad1:

Awww...that's so sad! She should definitely read them! Is it a bad sign that I would rather be reading KMM that be spending time with boyfriend?
