Did anyone else catch these few lines? JB is saying them to Mac on page129 right after she encounters the SD photocopied pages.

"His lips curved but his eyes stayed cold. "You could. I'm not certain you would like yourself afterward."

So here is my question....How would JB know that it could change a person once it was in a persons possession? Did he have it at one point as being the Druid family that protected it? Or was he forced to have it and that changed him into what ever he is now.

So many questions and so long to wait.....

That's definitely a good question Broken. I had one too....how did the Ireland cops find Alina, figure out who she was, where she was from, etc.?? (I just started re-reading DF and realized that none of that info is in there....I wonder?)

for the first question i just assumed there were legends surounding the book, like everything else historical/mythical.. but thats an interesting point i hadnt considered!! maybe he, at one point, got his hands on the book and it twisted him into what he is now before he lost it. - trying to think back on Ciercen and what little was mentioned of the SD in that book.. when i get home i'll have to flip through it and pick out those parts where its brought up. maybe the same thing happened to JB that happened to Ciercen( i just know i'm spelling his name wrong.... )? or maybe it almost happened? or maybe he went a step further than Ciercen did? OR it happened to someone he knew?
in history its common for someone to rise to full blown tryanical power only to lose it in a short period of time because they got too greedy.. maybe thats the case here?

as for how they found Alina.... lol again i assumed... i just imagined that someone looked out a window and saw her, or some kids(teens in love?) were looking for a private place and stumbled on to her. the cops mention a lot of other trash lying around which made it pointless to acknowledge that the bag was hers.. i dont know what to say about the identity though.... if her "BF" took her photo albums and journal then SURELY he also took her ID and passport?

Good question about Alina, since she was found in the "dead" part of the city now controlled by the Shades. Obviously it wasn't that way when she was found - or was she moved? Or did somone who went into that part of the city (JB perhaps?????) call it in? If so, wouldn't the police have wondered about the place?

As for the other, I'm so uncertain about JB - want him to be a good guy, but he knows too much in mysterious ways for him to be "good". Of course he could be going on what everyone says, but somehow I think he has personal knowledge. How else would he know how to protect Mac? He's a complete mystery to me.

Prolonged exposure to the Sinsar Dubh alters a person and not for the good so says the lore. :33:
Personally, I think JZB is the cursed/damned by the book's black magic, Keeper of the Unseelie Relics, synchronicity to the character of Circenn Brodie, 1/2 fae, warrior, Immortal, keeper...
but that would be one of the 'whys' of JZB's body being tattooed in the first place. We'll have to wait & see...
And HEY ! :a20:That's just my opinion and could be out there totally !

Im with you Jo. He had to have the book in his possession at one point. That had to change him into whatever he is now. (But part of me still thinks he is a wolfie) Synchronicity was used yet again in the series and its killing me to find out who/what it will affect this time.

that is a good question. i didn't remember catching that the first time. however on the same note, i was wondering how if JB can't sense the OOPs, how/why did he say that it took him a while to get used to the photocopies as well? That just doesn't make sense to me. If he can't sense the actual book, why would he be able to sense the photocopies?

just one of the many questions that i have.

He might not be able to sense them in the way that Mac does. The photocopies were put on the black market when Lucian was robbed. He explained that I think.

That was after mac and JB got to 1st/2nd base in BF. (I say that cause everyones bases are different except for home!:03:) She is in the bathroom and flashes back to the scene when she discovers her tattoo.

I also wondered about how the police found Alina murdered...her body was in the "dead" part of town...and then how the detective found Mac later on at Barrons Books...could the detective be more than he seems?????

hum???? you know that is a good question, does Jericho know from experiance, or maybe in the sence when he and mac are bumping and grinding and she sees him as a little boy running and hiding, he saw it change someone else, and it tramtised him sooooo much that he wants it to get rid of the memory or destroy it.

I don't remember Alina's body being in the dead zone either. I've only read the book once but I think it was just in a trashy part of the city in a deserted alley.

I dont think JB can sense the Sinsar Dubh. And I'm pretty sure it's never been in his possesion. On pg 182 of BF hardback (right after Mac passes out at the Abbey, and JB carries her around like a tuning fork) Mac asks JB -"You've never been so close to it before, have you?" "Not that I was aware of," he said tightly. I think he is cursed - but that he was tricked in some way and needs the damn book bad. He thinks it's the only way to break the curse. He then says "You have no idea how long I've been hunting the cursed thing." I don't think it's been in his hands before.

As to Alina - I didn't think she was found in the darkzone. I remember Mac saying she was found miles from the darkzone. I remember Mac thinking about that exact thing when she went to LaRue St. I think she made a comment about how could her sister turn up where she did. I could look it up in DF if you'd like. But it's downstairs and I'm not. :89:

Ok, I'm miles away from my book - I'm at work - but didn't the vampire wannabe tell the Lord Master Darroc an 'I told you so" :anim_nana-vi: referring to the fact that Mac came to Ireland? It was when they found her in the warehouse behind the house on LaRuhe. I suspect that Malluce (or even Darroc himself) called the Garda, figuring that if one sibling was a seer, the other one would be as well, or at least a pretty good chance that she had some ability. :33: And if the sister's were close, the one wouldn't accept not knowing how/why her sister was killed. I know for a fact that I wouldn't accept some flimsy excuses "Oh, she's dead, we don't know what caused all these strange marks but we think it was drugs even though all the kazillion holes don't match any hypos we've ever seen." :31:

Alina was found in a street somewhere in populated Dublin; she had the address of the warehouse in LaRue written on the pavement with her nails.
So I think it possible that just somebody found her and called the cops.
If Darroc took her ID... ?
But maybe somebody (Christian?) reported her missing at about the same time and the Guarda just had to put two and two together?
Darroc most likely knew that Alina had a sister,he was her bf, after all. And she didn't suspect anything bad from him until the very last. So she would've told him about her family, no?
And if he knew, Mallouche would, too, wouldn't he? Talking about possibilities to carry on with the great bad master plan and things?

The only thing about JB I'm willing to accept is, that he's some sort of druid, and that he's long-lived.....

Hmmm....I don't know...when Darroc sees her the first time he acts almost 'shocked' (for lack of a better word), as if he didn't know that there were two of them.....

i think that @ one point in time jzb had the SD but he was unaware he had the book. if he actually is circien and jessie's son (just supposin') and circien never told him about the hidden nook in the master bedroom. and something happens and jbz leaves it unguarded-the building it was in- and someone destroyed the house and found the SD:33: the reason jbz is so desperate to find the SD is b/c he is the one that lost it:33:
and if he is circien and jessie's son maybe he got ahold of the elixer of life or didnt need it b/c his parents had it when he was born?-maybe
which has allowed him to live a very long life. and maybe in his quest to regain the SD he has used dark magick to locate it resulting in all his tatoos. also the hard look in jbz's eyes could just be him having lived so many lifetimes and seeing the way life has evolved and being old enough to see the patterns in ppl before everyone else.--adam said that ppl who learn/can see the design of life/future are changed b/c its a heavy thing-- a paraphrase @ best:03: which is why sometimes mac thinks he's reading her mind when he could just be studying her behavior/attitude and making educated guesses about what she is thinking. and he said she couldn't hide her expressions well. just a thought:th_noevil:
