I didn't see enough comments on Mac, poor girl. I like her now at the end since she's become much bolder and braver. You think she'll remain as dark haired now or back to blonde? I like the original look, the long blonde ponytail and fashion look, but the new look is ok as well but it's not her. She may not worry so much being so materialistic anymore as well. What are your thoughts?

I think that Mac's physical transformation is following her emotional transition. I think she'll always morn the loss of such innocense and her cute way of life, but it's how she's growing. She's no longer cute, bouncy, and carefree. She has a purpose, a darker purpose, and she's afraid now and running for her life. It's a whole new dynamic.

I love that she's starting to stand on her own two feet. I don't think that she'll ever go blonde again, I can't say that for certain, but I think it will have a lot to do with how she progresses through the story. She will be changed so much by the events that happen that the original Mac we met at the beginning will never really be seen. I think Mac will in the end will be a harder more cynical person, but with stronger views on what the world is really like. And she'll know first hand how the darker side operates so she won't be so carefree anymore. Hopefully, love will keep her from getting to hard.

I personally don't think she'll go back, she's matured too much. You'll notice that throughout the book she changes slowly. True, there was the drastic change where she had to change her look completely, but she slowly becomes more aware of what's going on around her... that she's starting to accept her fate as sidh-seer... that it's not such a wonderful world after all. In a sense, she was like a kid before, shallow, fearful, thinking everything was bubblegum good, that she could escape the bad things in her life by just running away... But JB kept her (there's more growing up to do, though, no doubt about it). And by facing her fears, facing her fate, taking charge, she grows up. And with growing up come decisions on how we're going to project the image we've become.

She'll want to be taken seriously.

Nah, I don't think she'll go back to blonde. Besides, I think Jericho likes her as is at the mo :th_anim_naughty-vi:

I don't know about this. JB did say she looked better with darker hair, but than again he could have made her change her hair because he really found her too attactive with blonde hair(and used the unseelie as an excuse). And at the moment she will keep the dark hair but later when it is all over she'll go back to blonde or just shave it all off! LOL

she will see other blonde girls and her mind will go to wishing or even think how easy and silly she used to have it. But in my mind she will always be dark. She's learned too much and there are too many killers that know her as a blonde.

I was going to add that I sure hope he's not that shallow (wanting her to be darker just for his sake), but I think your reply makes sense.

As for shaving? No way, she's way too proud of her image (now at least), she wouldn't go traipsing around 'looking like a guy'. I still don't think she'll go back to blonde. She's seen way too much darkness in her life (as in, I think her hair colour is a metaphor of what she's learning about herself, the fae, the world, Jericho? :03:, etc. Not that I think KMM thought of it as a brilliant character development, it probably just came naturally).

I think JB liked her as a blonde. Remember how he reacted to her at 2 am when she opened the door in the Clarins House? If JB had one of those 'MacKeltar' moments of 'mine', then, that was it - don't you think? Even if he's not yet ready to acknowledge it.

And I somehow doubt that blondes EVER want to go brunette on a permanent basis. Being blonde is too much fun! But I don't see her going back to blonde for a long time. Not until she's more comfortable with the O'Connor part of her heritage. Somehow, I'm guessing that all the O'connors are green-eyed blondes. She wants to fit in somewhere. Once she figures out that the O'Connors is where she belongs, she's going to want to make that part of the face she shows the world.

Along the same lines of what I'm thinking, Claudia.

I totally understand and agree here. She's changed now. Will that then make her a formidable foe in the future? Enemies-yes, but even towards her parents? We won't know till we read it of course, I mean now she knows there are worse things out there than just the typical criminal. Her parents totally have the worse secrets.
I surely like her now, now that she has faced many of her fears for the sake of her sister's death. Her transformation is really the highlight of this book.
