Someone posted this on the Bloodfever board, and I thought it was such a great question, it was worth a whole new thread:

Any idea on how she would look like? I was picturing Demi Moore, but the woman does not age, so who?

I personally would vote for Demi Moore precisely because of her timelessness. It adds a bit of poignancy to the whole question of Fio. I mean, who hasn't been in her shoes? (Well, maybe you 20-year olds won't have had a 'Fio' moment in your life, but I can't imagine that we all haven't been there).

Claudia, Demi Moore is a good candidate for Fiona. Although, when I pictured Fiona in my mind, I pictured blonde, very pale blond. Also, one of those women who's always perfectly groomed, not a hair out of place, clothes always perfect, Chanel-type suits, tasteful jewelry, etc. In other words so totally opposite of Mac.

I agree with you Demi is a good choice! She is still drop deap gorgeous!!!:happy0158:

I can't remember how Fio was described but I got the impression that she's aged.

As for Demi Moore, you're right the woman doesn't age and that's why I have a heard time seeing her as Fio. She actually looks better than she did when she was in her 20's.

I picture Fio as an older woman (well maybe not that old) but has some sort of sign that she's aged. Maybe Michelle Pfeiffer, I can't believe she's almost 50! She dosen't look her age but you can tell that she's a mature woman that has aged very gracefully.

How about Kim Cattrall or Kristin Davis?

How old is Fio suppose to be?

Okay, so after I read the whole other thread, and someone said in the book it says Fio is brunette, I stand corrected. Any color, Demi still works in the role.

That someone would be me.

Here is a photo of her:

And she is a mother of three and has a hot husband 15 years her junior!!! Very lucky woman!

I agree with Liberty, Michelle Pfiffer is a definite "Fio" in my mind and she can have that lethal look to her. Have you seen her in Stardust? whoa.

Or Meryl Strep?

Yes, on Michelle. No on Meryl. Sorry. KMM described her Hollywood glamour looks!

Does anyone have a photos of Mrs. Phfiffer as a brunette?

I love Michelle Phfiffer..I think she would make a good Fio

I like Michelle Piffer myself but I also like Demi. Both women are phenominal actresses.

I've never seen Michelle as a brunette before but I googled it and it pulled up some articles but no pictures that I can find.

OH, Yes! That is a great shot of Michelle as a brunette. Very Fio-like!!

I was thinking of another actress today - Jane Seymor (she can to the accent right). She's going to be in a TV mini-series on PBS this fall. I've always thought she had a kind of beauty that would never go away. She sure looks as beautiful as ever, but also just a little bit of the telltale marks of time showing.

What works about Jane or Michelle that doesn't work about Demi is that Demi is so athletic looking. That great shot of Michelle shows a more Fio-like pose - the classic clothes, the respectably demeanor. I mean, I'd be tempted to think of G.I. Fio if it was Demi in the part. ;-)

mmmm -- I always think of Fio as more a Jackie Kennedy type - not necessarily pretty, but elegant, the twin-set, pearl, sensible pump type. Always put together, with regular hair appts. and always dressed perfectly for every occasion. (Like my mother!)

Demi doesn't strike me as that type, and I think she is too young - I kind of picture Fio in her late 50's. Michelle is too pretty I think.

Don't really have anyone in mind - someone more young Katherine Hepburn-like IMO, but no current actresses come to mind.

Same here Melissa, I thought Fio was at least in her 40's and more snotty. a high and mighty miss..

Kristin Davis is kind of Jackie O type.
She played the part in Sex in the City pretty well. Always so refined, clean cut and stylish. She has this graceful stuble beauty. Nothing about her is overpowering. I'm pretty sure all the ladies of Sex in the City are in their 40's now. But I don't know, she seems too friendly looking to be Fio. In my mind I see Fio as this really strong woman, with strong define features with a fierceness to her like Michelle.

Even at 43 she looks too young!
Maybe we should aim for much older actresses (they always find someone older and have them play younger anyways).

If I had the money, crew and KMM's permission I'd sooo love to turn one of her books into a movie. Or do like Lord of the Rings and make one long movie.

What about Elizabeth Hurley? (name right? the English lady who went with Hugh Grant for so long but recently married somebody else) She is older, shows it, but is still gorgeous. Or Jane Seymor, she is older, still gorgeous and has a little bit of English haughtiness. I thought DF said Fio was still gorgeous, good figure, and basically still desirable. Just getting older but very well preserved. I think both of these ladies are in the 40's or maybe 50's; look older but still in shape and desirable. Demi is just too young looking.

sorry to repeat, didn't see the above post. I think Fio looks better aged than Michelle does in that picture.

OMG! Elizabeth Hurley is gorgeous! You're right. (Is she an actress?) She's married to some Arabian Sheik now.

I mentioned Jane Seymor too. I'll try to dig up a picture of Jane. She's going to be on TV again next month.

Here's a couple YouTubes of Jane Seymour:

This one is snapshots of her career (if your a fan of Jane, its great)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ly8TTY7L2w

This one is a recent interview with her, where you can hear her talk. But the picture is really grainy, so you don't really see 'Fio' in this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaR_dfwooJk

This one is great - Jane talks about aging (she's 55 - perfect for Fio), and you can see the tell tale signs of age - but she will always be beautiful:

Here's a YouTube of (a younger) E. Hurley. She doesn't come across as Fio to me, too Hollywood B-movie style:

I can't seem to post this, but here's the URL to see this photo:

She was on Tavis Smiley last night.

http://www.pbs.org/kcet/tavissmiley/archive/200708/20070816.html

You have to scroll down to see her. You can see the fine lines around her eyes, and her neck is not as smooth as a 20-year old's, but she is gorgeous. When I think of Fio, someone like this picture comes to mind.

I was laughing to myself last night imagining Demi Moore playing Fio when the movie comes out, coming through the door to the bookstore, with two guns in her hands, like that scene in Charlie's Angels, going after Mac. LOL!

I was going to suggest I play Fio! LOL I wasn't going to give my age away, but I am just now starting to show signs of aging, I'm a brunette, I'm good with accents And!!!! I was recently in a movie that was filmed locally.

Just kidding. I could never pull it off. I would go with Michelle Pfiefer.

OK, so we need visuals! You have to post a picture of your gracefully aging self! To make it not so much of a dare, maybe I'll post a picture of me too. I'm 48, and hopefully aging gracefully. But I'm not signing up to play Fio! (just to be clear). ;-)

You have to do the whole elegant clothes thing. And then you have to post another picture with the jealous look - the green smoke coming out of your ears! he he he he he he. I'm sure you can pull this off, if you've done any acting at all!

JESSICA LANGE? I worked with her on "Blue Sky", and she is the correct age, and is pretty also! Just a thought, girls, what do you all think?

Jesicca Lange is truely someone who never came to mind for me.......but now that I think about it she would be perfect...she is now my mental image for Fio! Thanks, Virginia
