LOL I think I remember that her vehicle was something of an old clunker and the $$$ bandaids were for things that were breaking down?

lol hey thats not fair!

my little jack@$$ (fond term when i talk about my first car, an 89 Omni) is just that... old, ugly, plods along, always has something wrong with it, it smells funny, but relatively dependable. Its a used car to boot. the first owner drove it once to NC and back to Florida then parked it for several years. then it was inherited by a teen age punk girl who didnt take care of it properly. she parked it for two years, rats moved into the engine compartment and chewed the battery cable lol
my husband(BF at the time) bought it for me for ten bucks and the price of a new battery.

but to SEE my car you would think I had done all that to it!

be fair to Mac lol!!!!

I know what ur saying. My first car was an '84 Omni I bought for $75. (I was so proud of myself that I bought my first car myself & paid cash. lol) It was the same way. My dad bought an identical car so we could use it for parts for mine, but it still had no radio, no A/C, only 3 out of 4 doors had handles on the outside, rusty, couldn't get up to 65 mph unless going downhill, ugly old thing. But I loved my $hitbox! It was all mine. (Not that anyone else would want it.) It always got me from point A to point B & that's all I cared about.
I agree, be nice to Mac, sometimes you just gotta go with what you've got.

were it possible i would say our cars are related lol i was describing my baby to my sister about the doors - couldnt open two of the doors from the outside because one handle had been snatched off, and the other, while it did work was hanging on by a thread before it fell off in DH's hand.... and the drivers side took some MUSCLE to get open... she said "just weld them shut, paint the car orange with a 01 on the side and crawl in through the windows!!" :biglaugh::snick: i told her i was going to do that anyway with the paint job, and no point in welding... they were stuck fast!
ETA: the windows do roll up and down, but the passengers window is a bit sticky lol it takes both hands lots of muscle to work it.... i used to hate it when DH would pull up to the mail box and ask me to check it... argh!

for the longest time it didnt even have a rear view mirror... DH has fixed all of that now, except for the AC.... the radio works but it SUCKS! the car is so loud when its moving that a radio is almost pointless unless you're cruising. it CAN go over 80 - on the interstate lol - but man its loud with all the air leaks!

i let my mom borrow it for a while and she drove the oil out of it and didnt tell anyone. she thinks changing oil in a car is a "Mundane Task and cant be bothered" ...... so my poor little jack ass is sickly and needs an overhall.
its a POS First Class but worth every dime i plan to invest in it!
yes i WILL restore that car! brand new engine/paint job/wheels and anything else it needs.

i have many fond memories with that car lol

You all do remember that Mac doesn't have her car in Ireland?

Though the premise still stands - instead of making her use taxi's or walk, he could be nice and offer her the use of one of his many, many cars.

i remember only briefly reading about her car in the first book, but in spite of the possibility that she MIGHT wreck the car... this JZB. he could afford to fix it.. or get a new one at least!
doesnt even have to be new. could be something like.. this! http://youtube.com/watch?v=nIA4gcrk-50

That's too funny! :biglaugh: My $hitbox was always THE party car cause if something happened to it I was only out my $75, (it was only a temp thing til I got a better job). But if one of my friends did something to their cars-their DH or parents would kill them. (they still had payments) Many, many wonderful memories we still talk about (that was 10 yrs ago). We'll never forget it.

yeah thats one thing i love about my car.... no payments!!! i can throw the dogs in the back seat and go driving through wet clay roads or mud puddles down at the river and not worried about messing anything up!
