These songs, well if I was running the movie through my head, these songs would play when there are no spoken words by the actors, making them less backround music and more powerful emotionally. Perhaps a scene where Mac is alone in the rain, or a fight scene, or what Mac might play loudly in her headphones when hurt by JB, loudly enough for him to hear.
I understand perfectly that people "hear" music differently, it speaks to people in different ways. I believe a truly powerful song has the ability to saturate you with emotion, and more often than not, sad songs do it best. When I personally listen to these songs, especially the spoken lyrics and the song 'broken wings', I experience sadness and grief and despair.

I listen to more rock music than anyone I know. Metal, hardcore, classic... I love it all. Metal rock has the best collection of lyrics as a whole than any other genre, in my opinion. Doesn't compare to greats like Frank Sinatra as a singer, but when looking at the lyrics it's like secrets and magic on paper.
I'm good at finding less-known artists with amazing songs. If anyone's interested, I'll post more.
