Also...WELCOME!!!!![]()
Nobody looks good in their darkest hour. But it's those hours that make us what we are. We stand strong, or we cower. We emerge victorious, tempered by our trials, or fractured by a permanent, damning fault line - Mac
It mentions somewhere that some sidhe seers have special skills. We know that Mac can sense hallows and is a null which is very rare. Dani is super fast. There is no telling what other special skills are out there but I'm sure there are more sidhe seers out there that have special skills. The passage book made it seem like there are other types of special skills that sidhe seers can have as well.
Welcome and AMAZING first post! you should be proud.
anyway i LOVE the facts that you point out here! i am def one of the believers that there is a prophecy specifically about Mac, and you hit the spot with what I was thinking about!
And all the clues leading to the fact that Barrons knows... I DEF believe that, especially with how he left Mac all alone, but gave her the choice and free will to choose her destiny on the last night of blood fever.
yes! finally! someone who thinks like me! i love it!
good job!
Thanks Sharkcrow! You are probably right about the Dani thing, I thought there was a bit of foreshadowing there also. Plus, we do not know who her mother was. She said her mom was dead but, hmmm, do we even know her last name? I know Mac was told all the O'Conners were dead (except herself) though none of the other SS's know she's an O'Conner yet, though i am sure Rowena suspects. I was completely surprised by Dani's talent of superfast speed, it seemed so...i don't know...non-SS i guess. Most SS talents seem to be of the brain, detecting and sensing. But than there was Mac's fighting scene in the warehouse where she "feels" herself becoming this incredible fighting machine, instincts she never knew just jumping to the front...I LOVE that scene by the way....
Also, remember in Bloodfever, when Mac finds out that there is an organized group of SS's and she wonders if maybe she has family left, maybe even a....sister. It was kinda written like that also, very suggestive, perhaps abit of foreshadowing by KMM regarding Dani & Mac's future relationship. Mac has certainly felt a kinship with Dani right from the start. I think you ARE on to something there Sharkcrow!!
Also, I missed that part about there being something the SS's had forgotten over time, I will probably stumble over it as reread the series in prep for DrFever. VERY interesting. I ALSO have always thought it OFF that the humans and SS have NO DEFENSE from the Fae except for the FAE Hallows the Spear and Sword. Plus, the SS have to obtain the items first before they can be used. It looks as if the to Seelie Hallows have FINALLY fallen into SS hands, but over the millinia they have NOT been. Until shortly, the Seelie Queen had the Sword. I would bet if there was a prophecy regarding an avenging SS (maybe two?) and the Sword and Spear, than the Fae have been carefully sequestering the Hallows to keep them AWAY from the SS's.
Back to the fact that the SS's have forgotten something very important...How intriguing. I DOES seem strange that only two of them would be able to kill the Fae IF they both had the Sword and Spear, yet there are so many others. Hmmm. Besides, how will just too SS's be able to kill the thousands of Fae? There could definitely be something there. It will be so great to finally meet some of the other SS's and to find out their talents. I think Mac has many talents besides the obvious stated ones.
Mac's talents:
Null; OOP detector; Sight-foreshadowing:remember her dreams about the lady and the visions she has regarding Dublin as she looksover the city from her window; Deep thinking: remember her wordless conversations with JZB and her success at mentally telling him "NO" when he was going to tattoo her; portal detecting: the "push-pull" feeling she got that drew her to the dolman in the warehouse; fighting skills
Please add more talents if you can think of them!
Also, the first time I read Dark fever I just skimmed over the part where she discovers that ball of ancient glowing power within herself, but as I read it this time it became quite significant. How cool to have that in herself! It looks as if it is very powerful also.
Well, I have gone on & on, time to stop...![]()
Oh, real quick before I forget it. I remember noting JZB's comments regarding the leader of the SS's. Remember when he takes Mac to the cemetary at a church which was built over the site of an ancient SS meeting place of power which had been presided over by the Grand Mistress of the SS's herself (I forgot the exact title he gives her). Mac questions if there is a Grand Mistress still and JZB says something about the SS's have probably carefully gaurded the line which has the Grand Mistresses in it. That makes me think that there was a specific family of powerful SS's who led the SS's. This could have been Mac's family.
Remember, Mac's mother Patrona led the SS's up to 20 years prior when she was killed, perhaps the O'Conner family was the one that has always led and been the most powerful. Maybe the O'Conner family specifically is mentioned in the prophecy and there was a powerplay by the Fae to eradicate the O'Conner family completely before the wall between the UnSeeie prison fell. Those Fae who wanted the wall to be down maybe knew of the prophecy. They knew their plans to bring the wall down and rule earth depended on stopping the prophecy from ever coming to fruition...and the best way to do that would be to kill every O'Conner alive. This could explain A LOT of why the Girls were hidden, perhaps even BEFORE Patrona's death since she knew what was coming. It was a plan to fool the Fae that the powerful SS family had been eradicated completely. Maybe the SS's greatest gaurded secret at this time is that the O'Conner famuily WASN"T eliminated. Maybe Rowena also gaurds this secret and she isn't as bad as we think. Perhaps, Dani is a long lost cousin or sister of the O'Conner family who has recently joined the SS's herself, an unknown O'Conner....Remeber Mac senses that Dani is a kindred spirit to herself in that she trusts no one. That her aliances are not firmly in Rowena's camp. If she had grown up in the SS enclave, she probably wouldn't be so untrusting...
So much to think about!
I just posted something similar to your Row idea.... i think Ro is not on the up and up... i am SURE she knows way more than she is telling about Mac.. and i also think she was involved in the SD being "lost" ... if not by giving it to someone then by orchestrating its "escape" ... power hungry? maybe... under the SD's control?... maybe... working with LM?... maybe... nasty personal vendetta against all Fae?... maybe...![]()
20ish years ago:
the SD was lost....
Mac and Alina were put up for adoption with bizzare stipulations... AND
Rowena takes over the SS and changes all the rules (such as how council members are chosen)....
coincidence i think NOT!![]()

Very nice theories! I do think Mac will turn out to be " Queen of the sidhe seers" Barrons is more powerful then a shade I still think he is the unseelie kings son (from his human mistress). The books say a few places that he is not human.![]()
Good theory, Caranp!
Now let's fit Rowena into it -- from the standpoint of R. knowing about this prophecy and trying to have Mac killed or discredited to maintain her own position and authority at the Abby.
The plot thickens.....![]()
Remember how bitter Rowena seems with the status of the SS's now: they are forgotten and unknown by humans, they have no great status like in the past. She says when the SS's were needed BEFORE the Compact, the sidhe seers would arrive into town with much rejoicing and that they would be given the best accomodations and pick of all the best men (NICE!). She seems bitter about the lost status. Perhaps she took over the SS's 20 years ago, helped the Fae stage the eradication of the O'Conners. Maybe she herself WANTS the curtain to come down and the Compact null and void so that SS's are once again needed and have the power and status they were once accorded...if so, than I hope she doesn't discover the identity of Mac.
Maybe Dani knows this too, maybe she herself was hidden from Rowena because she was an O'Conner also. It will be interesting to finally hear the history on what happened 20 years ago, how many O'Conners died, whether Patrona had a sister who was suposedly killed but in reality staged her death and hid away to finally have Dani, but was eventually killed by a Seelie (this is what Dani said happened to her mother). So Dani was alone in the world and made her way to Dublin and was drawn into the SS headquarteres (Dani told Mac it was spelled to draw in those of their kind, Rowena was "gathering" them). Who knows if Dani was told of the of past duplicity of Rowena and her own O'Conner heritage of if her mother never told her to protect her...
This could explain why Rowena never helped Mac initially when she saw her in the cafe eating- she mentioned that Mac looked like an O'Conner. By not helping such an obvious novice she wanted Mac to BE KILLED by the Fae who would notice her stares. Over and over Mac has asked why she wouldn't help her the first two times Rowena saw her, and Row always insists it's because she herself didn't want to be exposed. But could there be an ulterior motive?...Row didn't know for sure, but suspected Mac was an O'Conner and wanted her eliminated justy in case. Hmmm.
Some of you have mentioned in this thread that Rowena may have also released the SD into the world. That fits. Maybe she released the SD to accelerate the human's need of the SS again, who knows. That would make sense if she is trying to establish the status of the SS again. If so, what a wicked, power-hungry woman.
