All right guys, bear with me, this is my first post:)
I was rereading the Darkfever book and I noticed some things which made me think of a theory.
What if there was an ancient prophecy of a Sihde-seer who would be born with all powerful Sidhe-seer talents who will wield the Spear and would avenge all the Fae breaking the Compact.
Humans are so vulnerable, especially now, they cannot even see their enemies, it is so EASY for the Fae to use them as cattle, to kill them. The killing and slaughtering is increasing dramatically as the Unseelie prison opens and the human worlds is completely oblivious. Dani also mentions to Mac that her mother was killed by a Seelie and that few of the Fae have honored the Compact. if there was a prophetetic hero, the time is ripe for her appearance, she will save, protect, and avenge the human race!
We may have not been privy to the prophecy yet, KMM may have withheld it from us as it would tell us too much.
However, If there IS a prophecy of a powerful avenging Sidhe-seer (SS) who will punish the Fae, and the Fae KNOW of it, than they would want to kill this SS (remember V'Lanes fear when he first saw it in her hands at the museum?). That could be why the mother of Alina and Mac hid her girls in a small town, remember all the stipulations of the adoption contract? She knew her daughters had the powers and were fulfilling the prophecy and hid them from Fae who would destroy them. THAT is why Mac is EPIC. It is interesting that there are TWO weapons to kill the Fae, a Sword and a Spear. Maybe Alina is NOT dead and the girl in the alley was a Fae illusion to fool humans that she was dead. Maybe the Sword is meant for her....Maybe she is being kept somewhere...
Also, when Mac and JZB steal the Spear from O'Bannion....JZB talks about all the powerful rulers who have had the Spear and that they believed it was the source of their true powers. Mac states she is going to keep the Spear and the book says something like "Barrons stared broodingly at the spear with dark eyes and then said "it was for you all along Ms. Lane" Perhaps the Spear was created a millia ago specifically for Mac, the powerful Sidhe-seer of prophecy who would avenge the cruelty of the Fae toward humans... Than, the Spear truly IS Mac's. After all, the only thing to kill a Fae is the Spear and the Sword. Also, when Mac points at the Spear in O'Bannions underground vault, Barrons says something like "F---! (slams his fist in the wall) I didn't even see it! F---! Are you sure that's it?" What a reaction! I think that the prophecy might state that the Spear is for the avenging SS and that this confirms his suspicions of what she is (and obviously does not want her to be).
When JZB demanded Fio look up Macs ability and she said something like "you know what she is Barrons.." and he said, "that's a myth..." he might have been not referring only to the rare Null ability but also to her being the prophetic SS-a myth perhaps foretold of a millennia ago... Also, she has been told many times she does not know what she is, and Barrons at the end of Darkfever, laughed and said "Mac, What a name for WHAT you are..." By then he is convinced.
Also, remember in one of the books JZB Voices Mac and asks her what she is, and she finally say's "I am VENGENCE," I assumed she meant vengeance for her sister, but he seemed very satisfied with her answer, as if it confirmed something. I also believe the prophecy reveals some of what the SS (Mac) will have to go through and that is why JZB does not want it to be her, or maybe the prophecy says something that makes JZB believe he can never have Mac and this upsets him because he greatly desires her. It could explain his hot and cold attitude towards her. It may also explain why he allowed her to stay in Dublin at the end. It could even explain his part in the entire plot, for it is interesting that his middle name means "punished or punisher." Maybe JZB was even alive still when this prophecy came about and he is meant to find and the SS prophesized so that she can complete her mission to avenge, that may explain why he's always telling her he WILL NOT let her die. Hmmm...I believe KMM will reveal this prophecy to us in time...maybe....
Also, a little off here, but there is evidence that JZB becomes the large intimidating Shade, it is the only one after all that is acting sentient...maybe that is his punishment....perhaps he was someone very important in the past and was punished by becoming the lowliest of the Fae, perhaps he must shift into a Shade at certain times. Maybe he was trying to not shift into the Shade when he was in O'Bannion's presence which could explain his powerful preoccupation that Mac sensed. If so, than it was he who killed O'Bannion, (as a Shade that is). Also, when V'lane rescues Mac from the large Shade in the BB & B the book says Mac can sense the Shade's anger towards V'lane as V'lane tries to convince her to take the Cuff he has offered in the past. It would be ironic if the Cuff protects Mac from JZB or stops him from being able to touch or be around him....hmmmm....just a thought. Also, it is always JZB who is refusing to believe that the Shades are sentient and tries to convince Mac of it regardless of what she tells him otherwise. He certainly doesn't downplay other info she gives him regarding other Unseelie and Seelie Fae. Also, that could be what held him back from rescuing Mac earlier when she was abducted by Malluce in the second book...He was a Shade and could not come to her, and he also could not escort her home which would have stopped the abduction in the first place if he was stuck in the Shade form. It could be something....or not....
Thanks for listening; it felt good to get that off my chest!
