Macular Degeneration - Experience with this and Request for prayers?

I have a family member diagnosed with this in one eye. Kinda scared and upset about it.

It can be degenerative and progressive. It can lead to blindness. Can be fast or slow. Who knows why? I don't know too much else about it. I'm starting to try and read stuff on the net about it.

For now, I'd love to know if any of you have had personal experience with it or a family member has. If you can tell me any tips or things to ask or do?

Most importantly, please say some prayers as a we could do with all the positive prayers. He's pretty upset right now.

My Dad has been suffering with this for many years, I'd guess it was nearly 20 years ago now that he was first diagnosed. I think it can be either slow or fast, in his case, it's been slow. He has it in both eyes. He is now considered legally blind, but he does have vision. The VA hospital recently gave him a machine, free of charge, that allows him to magnify books, newspapers, etc., onto a monitor, so he's been reading and looking at photos that he hasn't seen properly in several years. Ask any questions, I'll see if I can answer. I do know that this can be genetic, and whenever I get an eye exam, I have them check for this, too. I'm clear, but one of my sisters is showing early signs of it.

More hugs and prayers from my way, too. And I certainly hope it doesn't get as far as this, but my mother is blind in one eye from medical malpractice , but she still does amazingly well and depth perception is only slightly skewed.
