Default Why wasn't Dageus at Cian and Jessica's wedding?

I know in the book it says he wasn't feeling well, but why would that be of any significance? It makes me think he really wasn't sick and doing some research or spying or something?!? Did I miss something in the book?

Warning for those who haven't read Spell--spoilers below!

By the time of the wedding, Dageus was already working on the plan of how to permanently free Cian from the mirror. If you look at the section right before the wedding, the answer is there:

A few moments later, she powered down the computer and left the library.

As the door closed behind her, from deep in the shadows, concealed behind a velvety drape, Dageus watched the display go dark and sighed.

Earlier that day, after Lucan had gone, Jessica had cornered Dageus as he’d been hurrying—unnoticed, he’d thought—in the back entrance to the castle, in an attempt to avoid contact with Cian, as he’d been doing for several days now, unwilling to risk his powerful ancestor trying to deep-read him.

Dageus, do those ancient people, the Draghar inside you, know anything? Is there any way to save him? she’d asked, her face wan, her jade eyes dark with grief.

He’d drawn a deep breath and given her the same answer he’d given Drustan when, a few days ago, his brother had asked him the same question.

    Nay, lass, he’d lied.
Drustan can't deep-read; Dageus couldn't until after he'd gone through his ordeal with the Thirteen. But Cian can, and has no scruples about doing so. Since one key to Cian's rescue is that he absolutely can't know what's happening--his sacrifice must be a true one, without hope of gain--Dageus avoids being anywhere in his presence from shortly after his arrival until the end of the book.

than people with bodies and heartbeats."

*ducks head and mumbles* "...I don't know what gives you that idea...." LOL

The sad part is, there were half a dozen people on here this morning in the five hours before I got online who could've saved me the trouble. I swear if his name is in the subject line, it gets left for me to respond to!

And the sadder part was I knew the answer before I even looked it up... I spent WAY too much time in Dark, Immortal, and Spell last year

Pretty sure there is no such thing as too much time when it comes to three particular MacKeltars ;)

That's Dageus! He saves his brother so that he can be reunited with Gwen and now he does the same for Cian. That pulls at the heart.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that at all!

Somewhere in the mist o' time
    a Fever rages in a Highlander "mine"~~
Dual breath in a Druid born
An Immortal lad of a Keltar lore~~
Souls of the present meet the soul of past
No canceling out of the sexy extra large Keltar lad~~
Two of his kind, one stays behind
in the past and in a present kin~~
I'm trying to find A missing Keltar "Mine"
Oh Dageus wherefor are though my friend?

LOL, yeah, I admit, I knew the answer right off but I was waiting for you to answer -- if there had been any subtlety to it beyond what I knew, figured you'd say it...
