I love FB. It’s a wonderful way to connect with people, and share your interests and passions. One active page can be a full time job. Sixteen pages is fifteen too many.
When the Official KMM character FB pages were first created, different people ran each of them. Very little of my time was necessary to maintain them—no more than my admins periodically checking on them and reporting to me that all was well and the fans were happy. But as time passed and lives changed, some of the people who initiated the pages were no longer able to keep them going.
Various people stepped in for short periods of time and attempted to steer the abandoned ships, but it’s not the same as a page run by a die-hard fan who wants to be online, immersed in the character on a daily basis. Eventually, I began to feel responsible for them—and running official character pages is something I just don't have time to do.
I considered looking for new people (again!) to run them but each time someone new took over one of the pages, it created more work for me and my team. It takes time and energy to oversee fifteen people and make sure that they remain mostly in character, entertain and avoid the major obstacles one can encounter on the internet.
Quality is so important to me and if I can't deliver it, I'll pull back my resources and look for other ways do so. Since I'll no longer have to worry about overseeing the constantly shifting sands of too many un-manned or womaned FB pages, I'll be more inclined to post tidbits from or about the current WIP here on the fan page. (Don't expect anything just yet. I'm on the edge of going as deep into writing as I get and that means less of me around for a bit.)
We have closed the Official character FB pages. Thanks to all of you for making them so much fun while they lasted!
