VictoriaP, I have regular Claritin, not Claritin D (I'll try it) and I take Singulaire everyday of my life. Yesterday, I went to the bookstore instead of staying at the barn because I wanted to be able to breath last night...so whenI drove-up to the barn, the cat jumped on my car, climbed onto my ragtop,, and peered down and was looking at me UPSIDE DOWN as I sat in the car!!!

When I got out of the car, he followed me like a puppy! I think the cat is confused and thinks he is a dog.....he is a cuddler!!! (Is that a word?)

I'm not sure if this helps at all, but my cats (all three of them) HATE the smell of lavender. So if you are okay with lavender, you could probably buy some perfume with lavender in it, or carry one of those lavender-pouches (I assume everyone knows them, for you laundry?) with you and put it on your lap when Lewis is around. Won't cost that much and might keep him at a distance.

LOL everything I use in my house is lavender, from laundry detergent, floor cleaner, shower gel, you name it. I am convinced it will tame my wild family!!! Lewis must love it!!!

ah, well... lewis seems to be a lavender-junkie then... it just proves that what works for one cat doesn't have to work for the other ;)

by the way: our oldest cat loki gags when he smells fresh pine-apple. (that seriously took my appetite once, I tell you ;) ) the other show no apparent reaction to the scent.

loki also gets offended by the scent of fresh apples. he hates them with a passion. when I eat an apple, he avoids me until the deadly apple-breath has gone. Go figure.

h2b says it's because loki is his cat and they are both carnivores. they simply have no use for fruit

Jill, you have been given pretty good advice. Yes, the cat likes you that's why the leg weaving in and out and the kneading on your lap to get a perfect spot. Also the pushing the head under your hand. These are all signs of love and affection and as you give more the cat may demand less over time. Seems silly but he may be newly in need of affection and not getting enough. Over time this may lessen to just a little now and then. I work for a vet and you can take it or leave it. (lol) If the alergies become a factor you could always take a small benadryl capsul when you go to the barn.
